Spooky Films, now based in Los Angeles, originated in New Orleans as a collaboration between Marta (writing & photography) and Tom Murphy (music, writing, & performance arts). Their video shorts received national attention for their strong political stance and controversial subjects.

Their world was one of art centers, galleries, raves, and cable. They won several cash awards at film and media festivals and earned kudos at an international filmmakers symposium sponsored by the U.S. State Dept.

After exploring the realm of home-grown productions, the couple moved to Los Angeles, where they now work in entertainment. Their creative services grew to include online media, music journalism, and art services for televison and film.

When Marta first arrived in Los Angeles, she was chosen for the WGA Writing Program, a paid internship with the writers at Star Trek Voyager. Most fun she's ever had in a day job.

Marta's screenplay Daniel, (aka The Vatican Solution) a political drama set in post-World War II Italy, was a semi-finalist in the Chesterfield Writers Project and in the Academy of Arts and Sciences' prestigious Nicholl Fellowship. She recently rewrote it as a novel.

Marta wrote Acapulco Buds, an adult dark comedy novel set in the late 1960s— love, war, dope, the CIA... and Go-Go dancing commies.

Marta's Angelita, a fairy tale, is available to read free online.

She's presently writing Bloodline, the Winter's Child, an adult dark fantasy novel.
An early version was a quarter-finalist in the Chesterfield Writers Project.

Marta's other project in the works is The Dream Machine, a time-travel fantasy set in 1930's Hollywood.

Tom and Marta developed a screenplay version of The Return, a supernatural thriller, at the year-long Feature Film Development Program of the Los Angeles Film School on a Paul Verhoeven Scholarship and a Women in Film/Universal Studios Mentor Scholarship. Marta recently completed The Return a novel of love and horror. A softcover 6X9 Trade Edition available for $14.99 at

Their screenplay, Borderline, is a crime drama set on the Tex-Mex Border.
